I have a document that I've created styles for. My normal style is a Times
Roman 11. I also have created an auto number style based off of the normal
style.
I've used it on my document, worked well. I then pasted new text into my
document. Even though my style says that the normal is times roman, the font
for everything is showing up as courier. I've tried clearning out the
unwanted styles and use the one I want, but nothing is showing up as times
roman.

Did you try to select the text and then press Ctrl+SpaceBar to remove
any direct font formatting?

Didn't know about it. I'll give that a try next time.

It is quite useful when you want to restore the font settings of the
underlying paragraph style. But note that the command also removes
character styles applied to text, which may not be what you want.
