Crazy text alignment

Sorry if this has been asked before. Was working on a document and not sure
what I did but suddenly, between the second and third inch of each section,
the text indents slightly. See picture for an example:

I didn't tell it to do this, and no amount of fiddling with tabs/page
margins seems to fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

Version of Word is 2000.

Hmm. Okay, it seems to be something to do with the page numbers. If I move
the page numbers up, the text aligns itself properly again. I'd really rather
have the page numbers where they are, however; can anyone shed any light?
