Huge chunk of pages skipped in Normal View

I have a document around 170 pages which is mostly tables.  When scrolling
through the document in Normal View, after somewhere in page 29 all text
until page 161 is skipped.  So, I'm scrolling along with the arrow key.  On
one line the I-bar is on page 29 in a table then after pressing the
down-arrow key one more time, the page is now 161.  All intervening text is
not shown.

But, if I switch to Print Layout View, then all that missing text *is* shown.

I've tried deleting everything from page 29 (and including page 29) until
the end of the document and then pasting the tables back in, but that didn't
help.

I've also tried viewing the format marks via the Show/Hide P button, but
didn't see anything abnormal.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It looks like this was a result of headings being their own tables instead of
just text.  When I converted the headings between sections of tables to text,
then it works properly.

I'm not sure why the symptoms I described below were happenning, but I
suspect there were nested tables somehow.  At any rate, the headings were not
supposed to be tables, so after converting them to text (Table--> Convert
Table to Text), all appears to be fine.

Thanks.
