When I open a Word document the e-mail view shows.  I cannot turn this
feature off under the view tab.  Any suggestions.  Thank you

Jasper...
Is not there a button on the standard toolbar which toggles between e-mail
and normal. I think it is the 5th from the left.

From your limited description you could be talking about one of two things -
the Reading Layout (tools > options > general > uncheck 'Allow starting in
reading layout') or the e-mail toolbar which is a toggle setting (File >
Send to > Mail Recipient.)
