After word loads up, it give me a strange count on the bottom left hand
corner that states the document title and the total character and
approximate value.
It won't let me type or do anything until it finishes.
Is there anyway to disable this?
Thanks to all...

It may be your Anti-Virus software. If you have Norton, be sure to disable
the Office Plug-In.

Unfortunately that did not seem to fix the problem. It stopped the
virus scan but still waits while it displays the total character and
approximate value and won't let me do anything else on the computer
for about five seconds...
Thanks...
