The document prints in the orientation of the previous section

I changed the page orientation from portrait to landscape. It looks like that
and print preview shows that. However, when it prints, it prints in portrait.
I inserted a new section and changed the orientation to portrait. The new
section prints in landscape.

This is to add to what I wrote earlier. I have entered a section break on
next page before changing the orientation to landscape. Again I entered a
section break before changing back to portrait.

The first three pages of the text that was changed to landscape orientation
prints in portrait then it changes to landscape and prints the remaining four
pages in landscape. The next page in the next section, which is in portrait,
prints in landscape.

I am using Word 2002 and the printer is IBM Infoprint 1140.

Hope someone can figure this out.

Sounds like you were in the wrong section when you changed the orientation.

Go to the beginning of the document and change that section to Portrait,
then move to the second section (look for the section number in the status
bar) and change that to landscape, then to section 3 and change it to
Portrait.

I was sure that I was in the right sections, but I went back and looked
again. There are two sections in portrait, both marked so from the beginning.
At the very beginning of the third section, I changed it to landscape. I
created a superfluous fourth section just to change it again to portrait and
marked it so at the very beginning. The preview looks fine, but the printing
is wrong, as I mentioned.

I figured it out in the end. The landscape page had a table whose width was
10 inches and the left and right margins were .7" each. Because the paper is
only 11" wide, Word printed it in portrait in order to fit the whole table.
When I reduced the table width to 9.4", it printed correctly in landscape.
