Word 2002: how can I overlap 2 lines of text so they
print partly on top of each other? Thanx.

You could put one in a text box with No Fill and wrapping set to In Front of
Text.

Thanx Su,
I'll try that one and see how that works.
You know within a line I can do anything, overlap,
whatever I like.
But once it's 2 lines Word refuses. With headings and
creative text inclusions I often mix large type with
small type, but I cant find any provision to override the
linespace setting determined by the largest type. And it
then looks horrible. Bill Gates is quite anti creative
here.
You are doing a lot of help here Sue. Thanks
Carl

Suzanne's method can also be used for setting a drop shadow on type.

You could also decrease the spacing between the lines - e.g., 24 pt
type with 12 pt line spacing.

Thanks Peter,
Thats what I was trying to do, reduce spacing below the
size of the largest font. But it would cut off half the
fonts for some reason.

Word seems to refuse.

And it then looks horrible.
Thanks

When it's printed it will be OK.

I'm on a Mac, so things may be slightly different for you.
Select the line(s) you want.
Format/Paragraph/Line spacing - change to Exactly, and enter the amount
you want.
