INABILITY TO READ A DOCUMENT AFTER SAVING

I WILL TYPE A LETTER ETC USING WORD, AFTER THE LETTER IS SAVED IF I TEY TO
OPEN IT TO READ, OR SEND IT IN AN EMAIL IT SHOWS UP ON NOTEPAD
AS SOME SORT OF CODED LANGUAGE I AM UNABLE TO READ.

CAN ANYONE ASSIST ME

Please do not post in all caps. It makes the message hard to read. Also,
in netiquette terms, it is regarded as shouting.

Navigate to    Tools   Options   Save      and see what the Default
format   setting is. Save Word files as   Word document (*.doc)    is
probably the setting you want.
