Courier (not 'New Courier') TT Font

1. Does anyone have a Courier (not 'New Courier') TT Font ?

2. The desire is for a Courier font that is heavier than
the Courier New regular, yet not as bold as the Courier
New bold, for general purpose letter writing.  (To emulate
the Courier printer-resident font in the Panasonic Model
2023 printer.)

3. The problem arises by the Panasonic Model 2023 printer
resident fonts of Courier 10cpi, 12 cpi, etc. (useable in
Win98 by the Panasonic Win98 driver), not being picked up
for Word2000 by the Panasonic Model 2023 printer driver
resident in the WindowsXP operating system.  No other Model
2023 driver for WindowsXP appears to be available from
Panasonic or elsewhere.

4.  (Nonetheless, the Courier 10cpi font resident in the
Model 2023 prints very well from the DOS Editor with the
Model 2023 printer driver furnished in the WinXP operating
system.)

5. Or, I'd appreciate any other comments on solving this
problem (short of resorting to a complex dual-boot of Win98
to accomplish this.)

 Thank You,

You will find the Courier font, whether TrueType or Postscript version,
to be very similar to Courier New in darkness. Both reproduce quite
lightly, especially if reproduced by a Laser printer.

Try Dark Courier.

1.  My thanks to you Tom, for your input on this problem.
While not perfect, the Dark Courier you suggest appears to be
a good practical substitute.  However, it now appears we have
located a root of the problem.

2.  The following is my post in the comp.fonts newsgroup, as the
apparent solution to this problem:

=======
1.  The WindowsXP-resident Panasonic Model 2130 printer driver
appears to function as a correct driver for the Model 2023 in
WindowsXP.  It seems to correct all the deficiencies we have found
with the WindowsXP-resident Panasonic Model 2023 driver.

2.  The deficiencies of the WindowsXP Model 2023 driver that vexed
us were not only Word2000 refusing to pick up the printer-resident
fonts, but printer refusal to recognize document margins in Word2000
manually-sized document widths, as opposed to the standard document
widths.  Word2000 would report "margins outside document area", and
then print erratically.

3.  Changing the color printing settings in the Model 2130 driver
in the Control Panel>Printer Properties>Layout>Advanced box seems
not to have any effect.

4.  What appears may have happened, was the programmer who wrote
the WindowsXP-resident driver for the 2023, after he wrote the driver
for the Model 2130, simply erroneously deleted too much of his program
copy when he made the Model 2130 color printer driver into the Model
2023 B&W driver version.

5.  We had already tried several of the WindowsXP-furnished Panasonic
printer drivers unsuccessfully.  And we are impressed that you were
able to figure out the WindowsXP Panasonic Model 2130 driver as a
solution to the problem.

6.  The problem had become paramount, because of crossroads with our
entire printing methods.  For that we need to give you our extended
thanks.

  Regards,

  Wm. Laub

Thanks for the feedback. Do let me know your experience with using the
2130 driver with the 2123.
