Does anyone know of a way to programmatically open a word document in its
own independent window to a specific numbered header section?  (My
preference is 'C' or 'C++', but if you know of a way in VB or any other
language, I'm listening.

VB is easier to use with Office VBA than is C/C++.

Best place to start is wit Steve Roman's book Writing Word Macros.
