Word 2003 security preventing WLL from loading

We use a WLL (FolderInfo.wll) which resides in T:\Startup and Word is
configured with this folder as it's start-up folder. There is also another
WLL in there for Reference Manager.

FolderInfo.wll perfectly on Word 2000, i.e. the WLL is executed when Word
opens and adds itself to the Tools menu.

However, it doesn't work on Word 2003. Reference Manager loads okay but
whilst the FolderInfo.wll is listed in Tools, Templates and Addins, it's
unchecked. Attempting to check the box causes the prompt
"T:\Startup\Folderinfo.wll contains macros". Clicking the Enable Macros
button has no effect. Re-open the addins dialog and the box is still
unchecked.

BTW - I wrote FolderInfo.wll so have access to the source code. It's written
in Visual C++ v6. I know it's not digitally signed. Could that be the
problem?

Thanks, Rob.

Hi Rob,

I have no experience with WLLs, but what happens if you put it in your Word
Templates folder, instead of "T:\StartUp"?
Things there are usually "trusted" automatically.

Klaus

A WLL acts as an Add-in. It won't do any good in the Templates folder...

Hi Rob,

See the information in these two articles

I'm not sure if a digital signature will help with a WLL, you'd have to try it.
