Some years ago, I saw a macro that would remove excess TOC bookmarks from a
Word document.
Does anyone still have a copy of this?
I would like to run it over some old and venerable documents that seem to
have grown excessively

Cheers

Hi Bob

A search of the Google archive searching for macro delete TOC bookmarks
reveals this:
http://groups.google.com.au/groups?as_q=macro+delete+TOC+bookmarks&num=10&scorin
g=r&hl=en&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_ugroup=microsoft.public.word
.*

(Note the * on the end of the URL, which may not be included in a clickable
link here.)

However, recent versions of Word don't accumulate hidden bookmarks, and
bookmarks are tiny little creatures anyway, so it's unlikely that this is
the cause of excessive file size.

Therefore, I suggest you try the measures listed here:

Hope this helps.

Thanks Shauna,

I still have some clients running Word 97 on old machines.  Some of these
clients expect to get another three to four years out of their invesment
before upgrading machines and software to the "latest" version.

I'll try some of the other suggestions too

Cheers

Bob
