Autotext problem

Suddenly, when I insert autotext in a footer using the drop-down menu,
this is what I get for Filename and Path.

  FILENAME \p

This started happening in Office XP and is now happening in upgraded Word
2003. It happens with most of the autotext entries, but not all of them.

Can someone help me fix my autotext entries so I can use them again?

Nadyne,

It sounds like you have field codes turned on. Click on Tools |
Options | View and make sure there is not a check in the box next to
"Field codes."

Hope this helps.

Thanks Rodney but field codes isn't checked.  I'm at a loss and I guess so
are most word experts because yours is the only response I've had.
