Am having trouble downloading .doc document on this
computer, can download OK on another computer.

I find in looking around that I have no Applications
Data/Microsoft/templates folder(s).  Nor do I have the
Normal.Dot template that is usually found there.

Could this be causing any problems?  The product is Word
2000 (in Office 2000) running under XP.

Thanks for any help.  Microsoft says to go to my OEM for
help, but they are out of business.  Guess I can't get
any help unless forom theis newsgroup!

Look in C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates

What do you mean by downloading?

When I go to
www.phoenixtabletennis.org/pictures/tournaments/04bow/04bo
wentry.doc, for example, and when I go to ZoneLabs site
for an upgrade, my computer runs for about 47 seconds
like it is going to download, but nothing happens.  My
CPU shows 100% utilization, but I have let it run for
over 45 minutes with no results.

The first site, being a word document that really isn't
downloaded, but should be available for printing, does
not show up on my screen.  At the second site, nothing
happens, even though I have successfully downloaded from
them before.

The .doc problem, I thought might be easier to chase
down, but that's when I found my missing files.

Hope this helps.  (I am on a two way satellite link, and
I have shut offf my firewall, and virus software with no
change.)

Thanks for answering.

Would probably work if you had the right link:
http://www.phoenixtabletennisclub.org/pictures/tournaments/04bow/04bowentry.doc

Garfield, et.al,

I agree with you, except I didn't use that URL to get
there, so I made a typo in copying it.  Nice catch, by
the way.  I went to the correct .org site, then cliked on
Forms, and the on 04 Best of the West Entry Form link.
Tried again tonight with the correct URL, and by going
one step at a time.  Same result - nada.  I get about 4
of those little squares at the bottom of my screen and
then it seems to "hang".  What's more, I can't leave that
site (to go to this newgroup, for example) without
closing IE and restarting it.

I don't even know who to contact about the problem, for I
don't know if it is a problem with all the things we have
installed to "protect" the computer from the 'bad' guys,
or if there is something else wrong.

Thanks for the thought, though.

This problem can't be solved from within Microsoft Word.  The problem is
related to your Windows settings, or your browser settings, or your ISP,
or your ZoneLabs antivirus software, or your firewall, or some
combination of these.

Having said that, once you get to the table tennis forms page, instead
of left clicking on the link for the 04 Best of the West Entry Form, try
right clicking on the link and then left click on Save Target As.  You
should get a prompt to save the form to your hard drive.  Then start
Word and try to open the form on your hard drive.  Does it work that
way?
