Autotext in Company-wide template

Hello,

I'm trying to set up a Word template for our whole company
to use, so I made the template, stored it on the server,
pointed everyones Workgroup template file location to my
new dot file and then attached the new template in the
Tools menu.  It worked great.

Now my problem is I need to update that template and Word
lets me make changes, but when I exit, Word says the dot
file (the one I have just updated) is in use by another
application or user.  This happens even when no one has
the template attached.

What do I need to do to update my company-wide template?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some information on how you maybe able to release the "locks" on the
template caused by it being in use by another person:

However, you should consider the method of storing the templates on each
user's local machine with a routine to update them whenever they log on as
discussed in the article "Distributing macros to other users" at:

You can set up log-in scripts that copy your template from the network share
location to a personal network folder or a local folder each time the person
logs in to your network (updates if changed). That way, the template on the
network server is never in use.

It sounds like your template is more a repository of AutoText than it is a
document template. In that case, it should be configured as an Add-In rather
than in the workgroup templates folder. See
http://addbalance.com/word/movetotemplate.htm for step-by-step instructions
on moving / sharing / copying customizations including AutoText,
AutoCorrect, keyboard assignments, macros, etc.
