Today I experienced hard drive problems neccesitating the
reinstall of my operating system (Compaq Quick Restore)
and Word 2000. The Word 2000 disc that accompanied my
Compaq System when I purchased it only came in a paper
sleeve (the operating system and Word 2000 came
preinstalled). The disc says 'For distribution with a new
PC only', When I tried to reinstall Word 2000 it asks for
the 25 character certificate of authenticity. The paper
sleeve the disc came in does not have this number. Can you
help me out?

Hi Bogy,
The 25 character key code is printed on the Certificate of Authenticity
which you would have received from Compaq with the computer. It also
contains words to the effect that you should keep it in a safe place so that
you will have access to the key code when you need it at times like this.
If you have thrown it away/lost it, you will have to contact Compaq for a
replacement.
Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.
Hope this helps
