Hi All,
We seem to be having a really strange problem. When I open a word doc with
Word XP or 2003, it just kind of hangs, with the hour glass. If I give it
15 minutes or so, it'll open! But, if I unplug the network connection, the
document will open up immediately. There aren't any obvious embedded things
which should require a network connection, so I'm at a loss as to why it's
behaving this way.
Any advice?
Thanks,
Nick White

ok, I figured it out. Word saves the template path in the document. So, in
this particular document, it had a template path pointing to a network
server that hasn't been operational in over a year. To fix it, I went to
Tools >> Templates and Add-ins, and changed the document template to
"Normal". This fixed everything. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Changed your server recently? It is looking on the network for the original
template used to create the document. Even if it is on the same network
mapped drive location, the UNC for it will be different.
