I have a large number of endnotes which I want to reformat
so that I can two or three entries to a line. One way to
do this I thought was to create a table with three columns
and paste the endnotes into these columns. However, when I
do this all the numbering in the endnotes is set to 1.

Any ideas of a solution?

Thanks,

Charles.

Hi Charles

At the end of your document (but before the endnotes) use Insert > Break to
insert a section break. Now, Format > Columns.

Hope this helps.
