I have pictures in my document next to paragraphs of text. I inserted
captions in the usual way, selected the pictures and clicked on insert
caption. Word automatically inserted the caption in a text box below the
object. My problem is I now want to create a table of figures but on doing
that Word is not recognising the captions within the text boxes. I am using
Word 2003.

Convert the text boxes to frames.
