Yes, the grid lines are displayed in the document, but not to print. There is
space from the top of the table to where the top margin should be.

Make sure that there are no empty paragraphs before the table (Use the Show
All button (¶) on the toolbar to see the ¶.
Also, in the Table Properties dialogue, make sur that the Wrapping is set to
"None."
