I have a fairly extensive document created in WordPerfect Suite 11, that
contains a table of contents.

The document converted to Word/Office XP/2002 very well except that the
table of contents will not update.  I believe that the TOC structure is
different in the two applications.

In WordPerfect, the entries are marked for TOC inclusion and a master
TOC is then generated using these entries.  Although I have extensive
experience with WP, I'm fairly new to Word and am unfamiliar with the
how the TOC is generated.  Word Help implies that only an Outline can
be used to create a TOC.  That is unacceptable in this case, as the
document is not in outline form.

After conversion, the entire TOC is a Word field, and none of the
individual entries appear to be fields or otherwise linked to the TOC.

Is there a way to convert the TOC to Word Format without highlighting
and formatting each individual entry (which I assume is possible in
Word, despite the info in the Help file)?

If not, can someone provide step-by-step instructions (or point me to a
link that does so) on how to select strings to be included in a TOC and
then how to generate/update the TOC.
