Is there a way to retrieve the default font type and size associated with a
user's normal.dot?

Thanks,
Brent

Font and size are always specific to a style. Open the template (or create a
document based on it), then --

With ActiveDocument.Styles("Normal").Font
   msgbox .Name, .Size
End with
