hello, does anyone know where the "word startup folder " is? thanks george By default, it's C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\ Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP although that can be changed in the Options > File Locations dialog. This is "per user" startup. Note that "STARTUP" can be localized for different languages. I saw a link explainng that http://www.apluscounts.com/WORD_StartupFolder.html I can confirm that on some machines our clients have Autostart instead of Startup Unfortunately I could not find official text from Microsoft where they would give a complete list of possible localizations of STARTUP Besides that, there is also a default global startup folder: %Program Files%\Microsoft Office\Office<VERSION>\Startup VERSION is the MS Office version numeber Office 2003 - 11, Office 2007 - 12, etc. That would apply to all users of this particular computer. >> By default, it's >> C:\Documents and Settings\<your name>\ [quoted text clipped - 13 lines] > >That would apply to all users of this particular computer. There's an important difference between the "per user" Startup folder under Documents and Settings and the "per machine" Startup folder under Program Files for Word versions up to and including Word 2003: When you go to the macro security settings dialog and tell Word to "trust all installed add-ins and templates", the word "installed" means "stored in the Templates folder or the Startup folder under Documents and Settings". It does _not_ include templates stored in the Startup folder under Program Files. (See http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/WhatTemplatesStore.htm.) Some software publishers don't realize this, and their installers put their add-ins in the Program Files location.
