Customize "Columns" button on toolbar

Is there a way to customize the "Columns" button on the formatting toolbar so
that the section break defaults to "Continuous" even if the current section
break says "Odd Page"?

No. Best you could do would be to build a macro (probably with a UserForm to get
the number of columns) to do everything for you.
