To cut down on wastage I want to include the user's name on each document.
Is there any way to do this automatically?

It probably is already in the document's properties.

If you have your users prepare their documents from standardized templates
(in a Workgroup templates folder) you can include a field to display/print
the user name in documents created using those templates.

For more on the different kinds of templates, tabs on the file new dialog,
and locations of templates folders see

Hi Keith,

You could use Word's 'Author' field, inserted via Insert|Field|Author. Add
it to a template and all documents based on that template will display the
author's name automatically. Check out Word's UserName and UserInitials
fields also.

Cheers
