Hello,

I am looking to know how I can print a document with an autotextentry on
every page.  It should not appear when viewing the doc in word but when the
user prints it out I would like it to be printed.  I have been working with
intercepting the FilePrint word command but have been unable to insert
autotext on every page.

Thank you for the help.

To make something appear on every page it really wants to be in every header
(or every footer) - you could arrange this in a print macro but it seems
extreme to me. What is this AutoText entry? Where on the page? What if it
clashes with what the user has carefully put on the page? Why shouldn't the
user see it on screen? etc., etc.

The AutoText should be "Uncontrolled Personal Copy".  The issue is that if
the user uses the version on the web, I can guarantee that it will/is
up-to-date.  However, once they print a copy there is no control whether the
doc has been updated since they printed their personal copy.... hence the
need for the watermark.

I originally wanted to place it in the Header... but was having trouble so
decide to use a page.count... and since loop through all the pages inserting
the AutoText.  I made it behind the text so that it will not interfere with
the active layout of the document and simply appear in the background.

I am always open to idea.

Thanks,

Daniel

Interesting! I fully understand your objective but once someone has taken a
copy I'm not sure that it's under your control any more. I would suggest you
print your controlled copies yourself and deem everything else to be
uncontrolled.

That said, I'd have to experiment with this a bit but I think you can use
Format > Background to easily get a watermark on every page - a process
which you may be able to reverse with a single Undo. Try doing it manually
and recording what it gives you

Thank you for the response!  I was unaware of the "Background"
functionality... I will play around with it.

Try putting it in the header/footer instead of the page body. Note that a
document can have many headers/footers so you'll have to cycle through
sections and header/footer types. But that will get you on every page with a
minimum number of insertions/deletions.

Also, be sure at the beginning of your code to note the saved state of the
document and return it to the same state when you finish.
