Hi all,

I have noticed recently (and I don't think it was the case before, but
I could be wrong), that when I close Word, (even after simply opening
Word and closing it again immediately without opening any document),
Word closes immediately, but the cursor has an hourglass attached to it
for up to 8 or 9 seconds.

Why is this?

Could one or two forum members try opening and closing Word and seeing
how long the hourglass cursor stays attached to the cursor.

I have XP Home Edition, SP2. I have tried closing my most resource
hungry apps with no change (ZA, Google Desktop search, AVG antivirus).

Please let me know if this is normal or not.

Regards and a Merry Christmas to all

G'day "Wibs" <withers@eumetsat.de>,

Pagefile getting emptied, temporary files (eg ~ormal.dot etc) get
closed, memory deallocated, library hooks cleared, buffers flushed and
so on. Also, network locations under File > Locations take ages to
clear up the links.
