My envelopes in Word 2000 look great on screen but with my new Lexmark X7170
print out faded. Even when I change print cartridges they print faded. I have
my color logo and normal black printing for my return address. When I had my
old HP all-in-one the printing was fine. Lexmark states that it must be a
software problem. If I copy all of the info. to a blank page and print it out
it is fine, but as soon as we go to an envelope set up it prints out faded.

Well they would say that and to an extent they are correct. For some reason
known only to Microsoft, envelope print doesn't use the black cartridge but
uses instead a composite colour to make black. Changing the Envelope Address
and Envelope Return paragraph styles to Black from Auto *may* help. If not
you may have to resort to subterfuge and create a template for your
envelopes that uses a different paragraph style or the addressee and return
address information (or buy another HP printer ;) )
