I am getting the error message: Login failed. You must logon to Microsoft
Exchange to access your address book. Error code: "Unspecified error." when
trying to access my address book in Microsoft Word at work. We do not have
Exchange and it is a brand new computer. IBM NetVista using Microsoft XP
Professional.

Any ideas?

No wonder you're failing to login to Exchange if you don't have Exchange
installed!

Start up Outlook and configure your address book properly, so Word can use
it.

I thought your problem was specifically that you couldn't use the Address
book from Word?

The address book used by Word is the address book view into Outlook
Contacts. The contacts property must be set to be used as such and Outlook
must be the default e-mail application - unbless you have Microsoft
Exchange, which is an expensive corporate messaging system.

The Outlook Address book property is selected from Outlook Contacts (right
click > properties)
If it is not available to Word when checked and Outlook is the default
e-mail application, delete the Outlook address book from Outlook and then
re-add it. (Tools > e-mail accounts > view or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book.
If accessing from vba, you will probably have to select the Outlook Object
Library reference in vba tools
