I am using word 97.

I have a mail merge document which pulls an address from an old system.
The whole address is pulled across already in uppercase.  To neaten the
address up I have changed the mergefield to titlecase which looks better
apart from the postalcode which for example is like this:

Lt1 7bg, Bc21 6sb

I need to capitalise this part of the merged data, obviously this could
potentially be any postal code in the Country!

Can anyone assist with a solution, please?

If it's a mergefield, use an \*Upper switch -
