how can i pull data field by field from Excel to a word table?

trying to pull XLS cells into a word file - either into text or into a table.
like a mail merge but really only one page with many different fields -
would appreciate any thoughts or ideas - thx

If it's just a one-off, copy and paste-special is simplest.
