Hi All,
I have gotten a lot of great help from this group, so thank you all.

My current problem is:
I would like to structure a text file in such a way that when it it read
into Word, areas in the file that I want to be bolded will be bolded in the
Word document.  I want to do this the same way that printer control
characters are embedded in a text file to turn on and off bolding.

Is this doable, and if so, how?

Lot of work: you need to create it as an RTF, XML, or HTML file. Word
doesn't use printer control characters embedded in the text.
