I want to set up a template that allows the user to enter specified data in
designated areas;
EXAMPLE
              [click and enter buyer name]
The user would click on the phrase in [], blanking it and leaving a space
for entry of a name. Does Word have this capability??

Thanks

To position your prompts, use table cells (without borders). See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/LinesInForms.htm. Note that for
a simple form, you don't need to pay any attention to the links for
protected documents.

To create the prompts in an easy way, just press Ctrl+F9; Word inserts
field delimiters { }. Between those, type the following:

  MACROBUTTON NoMacro [Click and enter buyer name]

Click F9 to update the display.

For advanced use of the MacroButton field, take a look at the fax
templates included with Word, or see:
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Add_Toggle_Objects.htm.

For "everything" about protected forms, do see the links to articles
by Dian Chapman found in
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/LinesInForms.htm.
