I would like to know why I would use WordPad rather than Microsoft Word. What
is the purpose of WordPad?

WordPad is much simpler: it's a kind of motorised typewriter. And it's free
with Windows. If you have Word you probably won't use WordPad at all.

Wordpad is free, you have to buy Word. If you already have Word, you
probably won't have any reason to use Wordpad.

Also, Word has many more features.
