Is there a way that I can keep the macro used in my word template from
copying into the word document when saving? The macro is only needed
for the template.

Thanks in advance

Macros that are stored in a template _do not_ get copied into any
document based on the template when you save.

What does happen is that when you open the document, Word
automatically attaches the original template to it, and that makes the
macros in the template available for use in the document. (That
assumes the original template is available; otherwise Normal.dot is
attached instead.)
