I need to insert incrementing numbers at the bottom of each page for 400+
flyers that are already preprinted.  Can this be done in Word 2003 Basic
Edition?

Yes, it can be done. The macro is in
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/NumberCopiesOf1Doc.htm. The document
itself should be empty, except for the bookmark named "SerialNumber" in the
proper position.
