Word 2002 (2003) allowed you to email the document as the body. Word 2007
only allows document to be an attachment. My email friends don't open
attachments, due to security issues.

The same security conscious friends will have their mailreaders set to
display only plain text. You need to send the document as an attachment in a
benign format such as PDF, which 2007 will be able to do - eventually. You
still will not be able to force anyone to read your stuff.
