I have a workbook which Excel thinks is "opened by another user" --
that is, in the prior use, it did not close properly, with the result
that I can only open it "read only". (In  MyComputer Explore /
Properties "read-only" is not checked, however).

Is there some means to fixed this locked setting somewhere?

You should ask in an Excel NG - this one's for Word!

Cheers

Quite right; sorry. This and the Excel group were listed adjacently in
search and I clicked the wrong one
