This is embarassing......
I had looked all over the Office discussion group and Googled my question,
thought I had found a solution
(http://www.vbaexpress.com/kb/getarticle.php?kb_id=65), it didn't work,
pulled my hair out, then began this thread. I then had a cup of coffee opened
the problem template and found that it opened in Normal view!!!!!!! Light
goes on, I check the fix I used (above) and found that I had set the
.view.type to wdNormalView. DUH!!!
