Adding a text box forces an "Enable Macros" prompt

I have created five .dot format files, all with security set to medium and
one test box, from unprotected .doc format forms .
When creating a sixth .dot format file, opening the .dot forces an "enable
macros" prompt. It does not do this on the other files. If the text box is
removed, so is the enable macros dialog box.
Any ideas?

Hi jmac60,

Not sure if this is relevant to your problem ...

As far as I know, textboxes created using the Forms toolbar don't trigger
the security prompt but textboxes created from the Control Toolbox toolbar do
(assuming your macro security level is set to generate the prompt). In my
case, though, if I create a textbox from the Controls Toolbox toolbar (in
Word 2003 or 97), I still get the prompt even after I have deleted the
textbox, so this may not be your issue.

If this isn't relevant, post back with details of the Word version and of
exactly how you're creating the textbox and someone may be able to suggest
something.

Thanks Ed...
I'm using Word 2003 with macro security set to medium.
Trying to figure out why out of a half dozen documents that were created
using Control Text boxes, four don't prompt for 'enable macros' and two do
prompt.

Can macro security be attached to a document or is it global?

Hi jmac60,

I believe that the macro security level is an application-level setting, not
a document-level one.

So far I have only found one (unlikely) way to have a Control textbox in a
document and not get the security prompt (when my security level for Word is
set to medium) and that is to save the document as a .rtf file and then
re-save it as a .doc.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "unprotected .doc format forms"? I
don't quite get your meaning here.
