Bookamrs & cross referencing

I have a number of bookmarks in the footer section of the first page in a
document, I have created cross references to these bookmarks in the footers
on other pages but the content is not transferring.  Where am I going wrong!  

Can someone help please with a solution?

Have you updated the cross-reference fields in your footers?
Updating fields in the main body of the document (Ctrl+A to select all, F9
to update fields) does not update fields in the header/footer. You need to go
to the individual footers and update fields - or you can use a macro to
update all fields in you document (you will find such macro e.g. at
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm).

If updating the fields is not the problem, try to turn on bookmarks (Tools >
Options > View tab > Bookmarks) and check the bookmarks. If you added text to
the end of a bookmark, that text may be outside the bookmark. For details
