I'm a business process SME in my industry, but an intermediate level user of
the Office tools.  I'm building a mock web interface using Word 2003 and the
various forms available. Is there a way to lock the size of a drop down menu
I've inserted, (once I've sized it to fit the menu text content) without
protecting the entire form (which appears to lock down the entire document) ?

Place a Section break immediately above and below the dropdown. Then, when
you Protect the document, set only the section containing the dropdown to be
protected.

Thanks for the tip. What type of section break? In the section break menu,
there are the following options: "next page, continuous, even page, odd page"
The document I'm building, there's multiple text fields and drop down
menus on each and every page.  I'm guessing that I'll need to put the
appropriate section break at the start of the page, and at the end, but don't
know which option to use, because I've tried all of the options, and nothing
seems to work.  Thanks in advance for your additional assistance.

Place a continuous section break immediately before and after every group of
formfields (textboxes and dropdowns). Not at the start or the end of the
page if you want other text on the page to be editable.
