french diacritical marks

I would like to find out how I can add the various diacritical marks to the
words when I am preparing work for my French class. TKS for any help.....

Easiest thing is to add French language support in XP, then use Alt
+Shift to toggle between your various supported languages. Then you
can use the proper keys to get the necessary characters, though you'll
have to remember them since they won't map perfectly to your keyboard.
