Macro security level in Word

Word 2002
Window XP Home w/SP2

If I assign a macro to specific document I am unable to run it unless  I
lower my security level for macros.

This does not seem to apply to macros assigned to the normal.dot template or
macros generally assigned to active templates and documents.

Anybody have any experience/comments regarding this?

Hi

At Tools > Options > Security > Macro Security, on the Trusted
Publishers tab, there is a box "Trust all installed add-ins and
templates".

If that box is ticked then all add-ins and templates in the Startup,
User Templates and Workgroup Templates folders are 'trusted', and will
not invoke the macro security message.

It's rare to put macros in a document (they are generally stored in
templates). But if you do store a macro in a document and the document
is stored outside those three special folders, then it will trigger the
relevant macro security message.

The general advice is:
   - set macro security to at least Medium
   - put macros in the relevant template, not in documents

Hope this helps.
