I am constructing forms in Word 2007 where I want to have the same
functionality as is present in WordPerfect's variables. In WordPerfect, I
create a variable in a form (for example, a variable for the name of a
building, and I insert that variable in 12 different locations in the
document. If I want to change the building name, I double click on any of the
12 occurrences of the variable, and the change is reflected in all 12
locations.

I assumed Word 2007 has similar functionality, but I can't really find it,
at least "out of the box". I am using the content controls with some coding
to automate the updating of all similarly named controls, but I am having
problems with that method.

Am I missing something? Is there something in word that allows m, without
writing code, to get more or less the same functionality as is present in
WordPerfect's variables? I am trying to transition from WordPerfect to Word,
and am creating Word versions of my WordPerfect forms.

Thanks very much.
