I am using Word from the Office XP suite for the first time. A message keeps popping up under the logo Microsoft Visual Basic. It says, "The macros in this project are disabled. Please refer to the online help or documentation of the host application to enable macros." In a nutshell, how do I enable Visual Basic macros? Thanks

Hi,
You either need to lower your macro security or place the document/template
in one of your installed template directories.
To lower macro security: Choose Tools, Macros, Security. Select Medium (in
which case you should get prompted about the macros when you try to open the
doc) or Low (not recommended for virus threat reasont, if you choose this,
you won't ge a prompt.)
If this is a template you'll use a lot, put it in your user or workgroup
templates directory. To locate (and change) those directories, in Word go
to Tools, Options, File locations. Select the directory and then click
Modify to be able to see the whole path. You might have to also set your
security to medium, but I believe Templates placed in those directories are
considered installed and the macros should be available.
Good Luck!
Laura

To add to the advice given by Laura, you should make sure that you know the
origin of the document and the purpose of any macros in it before enabling
them.
