I know nothing of programming in Word 2003. I am building a template for a
writing course I'm taking. The page header on my first page is different
than the subsequent pages. How do I program the header on page two to
automatically paste the assignment number I enter into the header on the
first page? Any help would be appreciated.
Don,
You don't need to program anything. Select the Assignment Number in the
first page header and bookmark it (Insert>Bookmark). Lets call the bookmark
AN.
In the subsequent header insert a REF field referencing the bookmark. Put
your cursor in the header on page 2 and press CTRL+F9. Inside the { } that
appear type AN. Now right click the field adn select toggle field code. If
you change the Assignment Number then just update the fields again.

Thank you. I work with Access and Excel. Word is something I rarely use.
