We are working with a word document that will be used as a template.  The
first page of the document has 2 inch margins to compensate for graphics on
the page. We need this document automatically insert a Next page section
break and change the margins for page 2 when a user gets to the end of page
1. Counting characters does not work because there will be a varying amount
of characters depending on what is written on the page.  Counting pages does
not work because this automation needs to be completed as the person is
typing, not when they are finished with the entire document.
Can anyone help us?
Thanks in advance.

You do not need automation to do this.  Rather, use set up a different first
page header in the document and in that header, you insert a textbox that
extends down the page to force the text on that page over to the equivalent
position of a two inch margin.

Doug,
Boy were we overthinking that one.  Your answer helped us a great deal.
