Templates and digital certificate

We're using templates in Word 2000 stored on our network
for access by the entire company. Because there are
macros in the templates, I created a digital signature,
then a process to "train" each computer to accept it as a
trusted source. It was working well and solved a lot of
problems. Last week, my computer was replaced with a new
one. IT staff eventually found and transferred the
digital signature file from one computer to another, but
now it doesn't work ("There's a problem with the digital
signature, so your project cannot be signed"), and I can
neither create new signed templates nor update the
existing ones. Does anyone know a "fix" for this, short
of starting over? Or a better way to approach it? I've
got a couple hundred forms I can't revise...

Not knowing the details of your setup, may I ask if you have tried just
checking the "Trust all installed add-ins and templates" from the Trusted
Publishers tab on the security dialog?
This way, as long as you are dealing with local templates, it should work.

What certificate files do you have? I have a .CER, .PVK, and .SPC file. When
I move to a new computer, I use this command line:

pvkimprt Cert.spc Cert.pvk

I then import it into my personal store.

It then shows up in the list in VBA's signing dialog. It's worked for me on
multiple computers. If you don't have those original certificate files
though, you may be out of luck. I've also heard people say the certificate
is linked to the computer is was created on and stuff like that, but I
haven't run into that. I'm not a certificate expert or anything so forgive
me if this doesn't help.
