I tried to save some info onto a disc and an error message came up saying
data error cyclic redundancy check. Now i can't retreive my files from the
disc. It says disc not fromatted. Anyone know how I can retreive my files?

Use a data/disk recovery utility.  It's not a Word issue unfortunately.

It's a software tool that attempts to recover data from corrupt discs eg
Easy Recovery Pro. Chances are it won't help here - Never ever read from,
write to or print from floppy with Word. This is the most certain method of
ensuring document corruption. Copy to the hard disc and work on the document
from there.   This is equally relevant to other removable media such as
CDRW.
